A an environmental nonprofit is asking Salem-area residents to help clean up the Willamette River.

Western University of Health Sciences Lebanon Oregon

Volunteers will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the Riverfront Park Pavilion from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the cleanup, hosted by Portland-based SOLVE and the city Salem. The park is located 200 Water St. N.E.

All supplies will be provided. The event is family-friendly, an event flier said.

A Town Hall open and free to the public will explore issues around Salem’s new wage tax. Salem Reporter is hosting the event Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Elsinore Theatre. Voters will get a chance to decide whether the tax stays in November.
