New Salem-Keizer Superintendent Andrea Castañeda will address the civic group Friday in a talk titled “Hopes and Challenges for Our Students.” The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Willamette Heritage Center Dye House and costs $10 for non-members. Learn more or register online here.

A Town Hall open and free to the public will explore issues around Salem’s new wage tax. Salem Reporter is hosting the event Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Elsinore Theatre. Voters will get a chance to decide whether the tax stays in November.
