Your Thursday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
The school year has begun, and one Salem nonprofit is seeking your help to aid local kids who need clothes, hygiene supplies and other basic items.
The Assistance League of Salem-Keizer is hosting a wine tasting and silent auction fundraiser, Wines and Vines, on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at Chemeketa Community College’s Eola Wine Studies Center, 215 Doaks Ferry Rd N.W.
Proceeds will benefit the league’s programs helping students in the Salem-Keizer School District. We’ve previously written about one such program, Operation School Bell, here.
Tickets for the event can be purchased online for $50, or in person at the Daue House, 1095 Saginaw St. S.
