The Latest Stories For You From Salem Reporter

Good morning, Salem.
You’ve got a chance Tuesday to see a movie filmed in Oregon and help raise some money for Salem’s Englewood Forest Festival along the way.
On July 18, Salem Cinema hosts a screening of “Redwood Highway,” which follows Marie, an older woman estranged from her family, as she journeys 80 miles on foot to the Oregon Coast to attend her granddaughter’s wedding.
The movie was filmed in Talent, Grants Pass, Cave Junction, Ashland, Phoenix and Brookings and released in 2014. The screening will be at 6:30 p.m. at the cinema, 1127 Broadway St. N.E.
Tickets for Tuesday’s screening are $15 in advance and benefit the Englewood Forest Festival, a free day-long celebration of art, live music and nature held Aug. 12 in Englewood Park.
Elizabeth Seibert, a walk leader in the Chemeketans, will be at the screening to answer questions about great local walks. The Salem nonprofit formed nearly a century ago to encourage local walking and outdoor activities.
