Three teens were arrested on Saturday, May 20, after a shooting sent a bullet flying into a northeast Salem home, according to a Salem Police Department news release.
No injuries were reported in the shooting, police wrote in the statement.
Salem police responded around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday to a report of a report of shots fired into an apartment in the 2400 block of Northeast Coral Avenue, near the East Lancaster neighborhood.
A person reported a bullet from a neighboring apartment had entered their residence after they heard what sounded like an argument, according to the news release.
Police evacuated neighboring apartments. An adult who lived in the apartment where the gunfire came from arrived on the scene and allowed officers to enter. Four teens then exited the apartment.
Officers “cleared” the apartment and found one AR-15 style weapon, a shotgun and a long rifle, the release said.
Police arrested three teen boys, two aged 14 and one 16, and booked them into the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center.
One of the 14-year-olds is charged with theft by receiving. All three teens are charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and reckless endangering, according to Salem police.
The agency doesn’t publicly identify juvenile defendants and said it would not release any additional information about the shooting.
