The Latest Stories For You From Salem Reporter

Good morning, Salem.
An Instagram account gained thousands of followers by highlighting the work of female athletes at high schools across the state, whose work often goes unappreciated.
According to an article by a team of student journalists at Grant High School, creator Eric Watkins used his platform to send inappropriate messages to girls as young as 13.
The Salem-Keizer School District banned Watkins from all district properties and events in May, according to their article “The Cost of Coverage,” in Grant Magazine.
Also, a correction to Tuesday evening’s newsletter: Oregon’s last execution was in 1997, not 1994 as we erroneously said in the lead-in to a story about Gov. Kate Brown’s latest clemency act. Our apologies, and thanks to the astute reader who pointed out the error.
