Pedestrian struck and killed on Mission and 25th
A pedestrian was struck and killed early Thursday morning at the intersection of 25th and Mission streets southeast, according to a Salem Police Department news release.
Salem police said Kristen La Plume, 48, was driving eastbound on Mission Street and struck 67-year-old Aleta Pierre-Kelly around 2 a.m.
Pierre-Kelly was taken to Salem Hospital and later pronounced dead.
Police said Plume remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. No citations have been issued in this incident, the release said.
