Carlos Ruiz named West Salem High School principal

Carlos Ruiz, currently an assistant principal at North Salem High School, will lead West Salem High School starting July 1.
The school announced Ruiz’s new role Tuesday.
Ruiz taught at West for eight years before taking the administrator job at North, according to a district announcement. He has worked on efforts to boost North’s attendance and graduation rates and redesign the school’s special education and English Language Development programs.
Ruiz replaces former principal Jim Miller, who left West near the beginning of the school year to take a job with the district’s online program, EDGE. Bill Wittman has served as West’s interim principal since.
