Good evening, Salem.

Several neighborhood associations are teaming up for a candidate forum tomorrow, Tuesday, April 13.

Salem residents have a chance to hear from candidates for Ward 2 and 6 council seats. That’s Councilor Linda Nishoka and challenger Manny Martinez, and Councilor Mai Vang with challenger Betsy Vega. One of the two mayoral candidates will also attend, organizers said.

The forum will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Jory Apartments in the main office building, 909 Park Ave. N.E., and online here. It’s organized by the North East Salem Community Association, East Lancaster Neighborhood Association and Northeast Neighbors.

READERS REACT: “Good article. Sounds like various parties are finally working together. The system only works when you have both contractors and public defenders. The problem going forward will be whether anyone who graduates from law school will chose to work in criminal defense or prosecution because of the trauma, stress and low pay. These are not 40 per hour week jobs.” -p&S, commenting on Madeleine Moore’s story about how Marion County addressed its public defender crisis.
