At 11 a.m. Friday, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown will join state health officials and scientists from Oregon Health and Science University for a press conference about the pandemic and the state’s vaccination effort.
On Thursday night, President Joe Biden ordered states to make vaccines available to all adults by May 1, two months ahead of the timeline the Oregon Health Authority had previously established. Brown and health officials have not yet said how their plans will change in light of the order.
Friday marks one year since Brown’s late night order for schools across Oregon to close as the coronavirus pandemic took hold in the U.S. Now, the governor has ordered public schools across the state to resume in-person classes at least part time by March 29 for elementary school students, and April 19 for middle and high school.
The press conference will stream live on YouTube here.
