Greg Smith abruptly resigns as Columbia Development Authority director

Greg Smith, a Republican state legislator ensnared in public corruption investigations, on Tuesday abruptly quit his role leading a small rural public agency.
Smith resigned as executive director of the Columbia Development Authority, surprising its board with his letter as it met in Boardman on Jan. 27. The resignation took effect immediately.
The day before, Smith terminated the only other employee of the agency. The board acted to withdraw that termination as it pondered…
