Over the past year, we’ve written repeatedly about a key issue facing our city. Most students in our schools are behind in reading.

On Thursday, Feb. 5, Salem Reporter is putting on a Town Hall at the Elsinore Theatre to answer those questions. We’ll facilitate a discussion with local experts, with probing questions and a focus on solutions. Our panel is:

-Andrea Castañeda, superintendent of the Salem-Keizer School District,

-Dana Nerenberg, director of the Oregon Center for Early Literacy and Learning Success, and

-Jessica DeFrancisco, third-grade teacher at Sumpter Elementary School.
