Good evening, Salem.

Government accountability is back in the news again as Marion County Commissioner Danielle Bethell faces two separate probes by the Oregon Government Ethics Commission.

The ethics commission recently decided to pursue full investigations into two complaints filed against Bethell in September. She is currently running for governor, seeking the Republican nomination.

The first investigation is into allegations that Bethell attempted to use her status as a commissioner to get her daughter out of a number of traffic violations following a traffic stop in Salem last December. The second looks into a from a pair of votes Bethell took in September that increased county funding for a contracting firm employing her son.

Our stories below look at the public record so far for both complaints.
