Your Thursday evening update on Salem news

Salem Reporter logo

Good evening, Salem.

We have another weather report for you.

Expect more heavy wind and rain for a little longer tonight. An advisory for winds ranging from 15 to 45 miles per hour is in place until 7 p.m. tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

There is also a flood advisory due to excessive rain that could flood small streams. That advisory is in place until 10:15 p.m. tonight. Rain is still in the forecast for Salem over the next several days, but it is expected to slow down early Friday morning.

Although rain will decrease starting Friday, the National Weather Service has a flood watch in effect through Saturday afternoon. The large amount of runoff after today’s rain could cause flooding in rivers and creeks throughout the area until Saturday.

If you live in an area prone to flooding, be on the lookout and “prepared to take action should flooding develop,” the watch notice said.
