16-year-old identified as victim of fatal Englewood Park shooting
The Salem Police Department identified 16-year-old Ishaq Saleem as the person fatally shot at Englewood Park early Sunday morning.
Police said Wednesday that Saleem is a resident of Keizer. The agency added that no more information about the victim nor the investigation will be released at this time.
It remains unclear why Saleem was shot and no suspect has been identified.
Police said Sunday that the shooting occurred around 12:48 a.m., and the Keizer teen was taken Salem Health, where he later died.
Saleem was enrolled in McNary High School this fall, said Salem-Keizer Public Schools spokeswoman Lillian Govus.
Sunday’s incident was one of a spate of shootings that occurred on Sunday and Monday.
