Your Thursday evening update on Salem news

Salem Reporter logo

Good evening, Salem.

There’s been a significant increase in immigration arrests and enforcement in the Salem area this week, according to local groups closely monitoring such activity.

We have few details about the people in Salem arrested and are working to learn more. But the increase is prompting more calls to local hotlines and efforts by schools to make sure educators understand what to do if immigration agents show up. The Salem-Keizer School District has a longstanding policy not to allow immigration authorities into schools or provide student information to them without a court order.
