The Rotary Club of East Salem is hosting its annual book drive to stock 13 Little Free Libraries the club maintains near schools, child care sites, parks and other places children frequent.

Through Sept. 30, you can purchase books at the Book Bin in downtown Salem to donate to the club. The club goes through about 500 books monthly.

“We started this project during the pandemic to provide children with books when they could not access books at school, and also because there is not a public library branch in east Salem. We also know that many families cannot afford to purchase new books,” said Catherine Carlson, a Rotarian who helps run the drive.

Last year, with help from Salem Reporter readers, the club collected over 800 books.
