“Hairspray” musical brings diverse cast to Pentacle Theatre stage

Gravity-defying wigs, 1960s glamor and a diverse cast of more than three dozen actors will take stage Friday at Pentacle Theatre in their production of the musical “Hairspray.”

Set in the early 1960’s, the musical follows young Tracy Turnblad, who wins the chance to dance on a popular television show. She quickly rises to stardom, overcoming beauty standards and setting out to integrate the show amid the civil rights era.
