Health officials monitoring measles exposure sites in Salem
A person contagious with measles visited multiple locations in Salem from Feb. 18 to 22, local health officials said Friday.
The Marion County Health Department is working with Oregon Health Authority to notify people who may have been exposed.
Most Oregonians are vaccinated against measles and are not at risk of contracting the disease. Unvaccinated people are at higher risk if they visited one of the following locations at the following times:
-Youth With a Mission, 7085 Battle Creek Road SE, Salem, Feb. 18, 7 a.m. through Feb. 22, 1 p.m.
-Get Air Trampoline Park, 3910 Rickey St. SE, Salem, Feb. 21, 1:45-5 p.m.
-Red Robin, 831 Lancaster Dr. NE, Salem, Feb. 21, 12:30-3:30 p.m.
-Portland International Airport, Southwest Airlines check-in area and Concourse C, Feb. 22, 12:30-5 p.m.
The contagious person is an Illinois resident who recently traveled to countries where measles is common, officials said. The case is not related to the ongoing outbreak in Clark County, Washington.
Anyone unvaccinated for measles who has symptoms of the disease should contact a health provider’s office before going in to receive care to avoid exposing others.
Symptoms begin with a fever, cough and runny nose.
The Marion County Health Department has set up a line to answer questions from the public about measles and this case. Members of the public can call 503-588-5621 until 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
