Local Vietnam veterans deliver 250 Thanksgiving meals
Bob Fisher, 76, spent a recent Friday morning driving some 30 miles across Salem and Keizer to deliver eight Thanksgiving meals to veterans in need.
Fisher, a Vietnam veteran, made the deliveries Nov. 21 as part of the local Vietnam Veterans of America chapter’s annual holiday food distribution event.
The group, chapter 271, launched the effort around four years ago with just 45 deliveries. They do one delivery for Thanksgiving and another for Christmas.
