Salem shakes a bit with Sunday morning earthquake, USGS reports

A minor earthquake centered near Amity just before 8 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, was felt by people in Salem, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.

The federal agency reported the 3.2 magnitude earthquake occurred about three miles southeast of Amity.

The earthquake was felt in areas of Salem from 11 to 14 miles from the epicenter, according to the federal agency. People in Dallas, Sheridan and Silverton reported to the agency that they felt the quake.
