Your guide to trick or treat events, free candy for Halloween in Salem

Halloween is almost here. In the week leading up to Oct. 31, local schools, businesses and churches are opening their parking lots and buildings for trunk-or-treat events.
Here’s a guide to where families can get candy.
All events are open to the public and free unless otherwise noted.
Friday, Oct. 24
Chemeketa Community College, 4000 Lancaster Dr. N.E., Building 2, 5 p.m. Includes candy and face painting. The college is also collecting coats for a coat drive for farmworkers and others in need.
Saturday, Oct. 25
Downtown trick-or-treat: From 12-5 p.m., trick or treat at participating downtown Salem businesses and stores inside Salem Center, 401 Center St. N.E.
Halloween Dress Rehearsal with Salem Police Department, 333 Division St. N.E., 3-5 p.m. Come in costume for safety tips and candy.
Newsong Church of God of Prophecy, 4660 Portland Rd. N.E., 5:30 p.m.
Oregon State Fairgrounds, 2330 17th St. N.E., 6-8 p.m.
Trunk or Treat at Keizer Martial Arts, 3846 River Rd. N., Keizer, 12-5 p.m.
Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Salem,5090 Center St. N.E. 3-6 p.m.
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1770 Baxter Rd. S.E., 3-5 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 26
Halloween Re-Engineered, Gilbert House Children’s Museum, 116 Marion St. N.E., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. $10 ticket required, which includes a free slice of pizza.
On Any Sundae Trunk or Treat, 3987 Commercial St. S.E., 12-3 p.m.
McNary High School, 595 Chemawa Rd. N., Keizer, 2:30-4:30 p.m., south parking lot.
Salem First Presbyterian Church, 770 Chemeketa St. N.E., 3-4:30 p.m.
Free Church, 6994 Sunnyside Rd S.E., 4-6 p.m.
New Harvest Church, 4290 Portland Rd. N.E., 4-6 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 30
West Salem High School, 1776 Titan Dr. N.W., 4-5 p.m. Harvest festival with candy, games, face painting, resources and a fire truck. Intended for elementary school students. Families should park in the school’s back parking lot.
Friday, Oct. 31
Deepwood Museum, 1116 Mission St. S.E. 3-6 p.m. Pumpkin sugar cookies, candy, music and lawn games. Event designed for children 10 and under.
Salem Elks Lodge, 2336 Turner Rd. S.E., 3-6 p.m., open to kids and families for treats, a movie and games.
Fairmount Halloween Parade, starting at Fairmount Park, 650 Rural Ave. S., 5 p.m. Families invited to parade in costume and collect candy, ending at the governor’s residence, Mahonia Hall, 533 Lincoln St. S.
North Salem High School, 765 14th St. N.E., 5-7 p.m.
McKay High School, 2440 Lancaster Dr. N.E., 5:30-7 p.m. Trick or treating and games.
South Salem High School, 1910 Church St. S.E., 5:30-7 p.m. If able, families are asked to bring a donation of non-perishable food items for a food drive.
