U.S. asks court to enforce Marion County immigration subpoenas

Federal authorities are asking a judge to order the release of information about three men on parole in Marion County, arguing the state’s sanctuary law is preventing immigration agents from deporting people convicted of violent crimes.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office filed a petition Wednesday in Portland U.S. District Court asking the court to enforce administrative immigration subpoenas sent to Marion, Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties this summer for information about 10 men convicted of crimes.
