At a packed service, family and students remember Sprague teacher as man of great kindness, faith

Hundreds of people packed a south Salem church Saturday afternoon to honor Jeremy Wanak, a beloved science teacher at Sprague High School, who died after a crash July 10.

Current and former students, friends and relatives filled the sanctuary of Trinity Covenant Church. Around 800 people gathered to remember Wanak, 46. He died after he was hit by an alleged drunk driver during a bike ride.
