Pedestrian seriously injured in NE Salem crash Thursday morning

A collision Thursday morning in a commercial area near Hayesville left a pedestrian hospitalized. He is expected to survive, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the crash at the intersection of Northeast Silverton Road and Northeast Harold Drive around 8:30 a.m.
First responders found a 29-year-old Salem man with serious injuries. He was transported to Salem Hospital for treatment, according to Sgt. Jeremy Schwab, sheriff’s office spokesman.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, Schwab said. He did not identify the driver or the pedestrian.
The road was closed for around two hours after the collision.
As of Thursday afternoon, no arrests had been made and the sheriff’s office was still investigating the crash.
