3 teens arrested after Wednesday morning shooting in east Salem

A shooting late Wednesday morning in east Salem’s Middle Grove landed three teenage boys in juvenile custody, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies responded around 11 a.m. Wednesday to several 911 calls reporting gunfire from a white truck near the 4700 block of Northeast Silverton Road.
They arrived to find several bullet casings in the area but didn’t immediately find the truck or any “potential victims,” the sheriff’s office said in a public statement.
Shortly after, Salem Police Department officers found the white truck and arrested three 17-year-old boys.
The teens were lodged at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center on accusations of unlawful use of a firearm and reckless endangering.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Jeremy Schwab said Thursday that detectives were still investigating the shooting and the agency could provide no additional information.
The sheriff’s office asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact Marion County’s non-emergency line at (503) 588-5032 and reference case number 25-25852, or text TIPMCSO and their tip to 847411.
