California woman gets 3 years for stealing Salem payroll taxes, Covid relief funds  

A federal judge sentenced a California woman on Thursday to 37 months in federal prison for orchestrating two fraud schemes to steal nearly $2 million, including payroll taxes from a small Salem business.

Jamie McGowen, 43, pleaded guilty in December 2024 in Portland U.S. District Court to wire fraud, bank fraud and two counts of money laundering.
