Police investigating shooting in West Salem, no injuries reported

Salem police are investigating a shooting Tuesday evening in West Salem that left no one injured.
The agency has provided few details about the shooting but said on X at 5:40 p.m. that police had detained a “person of interest.”
“Initially, it appears the individuals involved were known to each other,” according to Salem Police Department spokeswoman Angela Hedrick.
Police briefly closed off Northwest Franklin, Elm and 3rd Streets between Rosemont and Kingwood Avenues and asked people to avoid the area. They have since reopened the streets.
The area is just east of the Oak Hills Shopping Center, which includes Safeway, Great Clips and Dollar Tree.
