Boy, 17, accused of shooting man in NE Salem on Feb. 3

A 17-year-old boy is accused of shooting a young man near Swegle Elementary School in the East Lancaster neighborhood in early February.
The teen faces allegations in Marion County Juvenile Court of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and using a dangerous weapon.
The shooting was reported around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 in the 1700 block of Northeast Aguilas Court, according to Salem Police Department spokeswoman Angela Hedrick.
Hedrick said officers provided “immediate medical aid” to the victim, a 20-year-old Salem man.
“Their efforts were instrumental in saving the victim’s life,” she said.
The man was taken to Salem Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, a month after the shooting, and lodged at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center, according to Juvenile Director Troy Gregg.
Police did not identify the victim and Salem Reporter does not typically identify minors facing allegations in juvenile court.
The shooting came a month after an 18-year-old woman was wounded in another shooting on the same small street.
