Just 10 minutes into the new year, a shooting in the East Lancaster neighborhood left an 18-year-old woman wounded.
The Salem Police Department has made no arrest five days later and is still investigating the shooting, according to agency spokeswoman Angela Hedrick.
Police responded shortly after midnight on Jan. 1 to a call reporting a disturbance at a residence on 1758 Aguilas Ct. N.E. They arrived to find a crowd dispersing, Hedrick said.
Shortly after, another call to emergency dispatchers reported a woman with a gunshot wound. The woman was taken in a private vehicle to Salem Hospital, and officers determined she had been at the same home.
No one else reported being injured, according to Hedrick.
This story was updated after Salem police confirmed the address where officers responded.
