Thousands lose power in West Salem after construction vehicle downs power pole
About 2,300 homes in West Salem lost power Wednesday morning after a construction vehicle got caught in a wire and pulled a Salem Electric pole down.
It appears that a vacuum truck belonging to a private company was driving with its boom up, said Jacob Knudsen, member services manager at the power company. He said it got caught in the guy wire which goes across the street.
