UPDATE: Roads reopened after crash involving person in motorized chair

Northeast Liberty and River Streets have been reopened after a collision involving a vehicle and a person in a motorized chair, the Salem Police Department said on X just before 12:30 p.m.

Northeast Liberty and River Streets are both partly closed due to a collision involving a vehicle and a person in a motorized chair, according to the Salem Police Department.

The agency said on X just before 10:45 a.m. that one person was hospitalized with critical injuries but provided no other details about the collision in north Salem.

The northbound lane on Liberty is closed between River and South Streets. River is also closed between Liberty and 4th Streets. 

Police asked drivers to avoid the area until further notice.
