Salem police investigating hit and run of pedestrian Wednesday

Salem Police are investigating a hit-and-run that happened Wednesday morning.

At about 5 a.m., officers responded to 4000 block of Northeast Sunnyview Road on a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle, according to a press release.

“The victim, a 66-year-old woman was found lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries, and she was transported to Salem Health,” according to the release. “The unknown driver of the vehicle in the collision did not remain at the scene and likely fled eastbound on Sunnyview Road from Lancaster Drive Northeast.”

Pieces of the vehicle’s headlight collected at the crash site make investigators believe the involved vehicle was a 1988 to 2000 full-size Chevrolet/GMC pickup or sports utility vehicle.

Anyone with information concerning this hit and run is asked to contact the Salem Police Traffic Team at 503-588-6171.
