Sheriff’s office investigating hit and run east of Salem

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit and run that happened Saturday morning just east of Salem. 

At about 10:15 a.m. Sept. 24, authorities received a call reporting a bicyclist hit by a car at the intersection of Howell Prairie Road NE and Hazelgreen Road NE, east of Salem, according to a press release. 

“Witnesses told deputies the involved car, a ‘cherry red’ hatchback, fled from the scene. The bicyclist, a 70-year-old female, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries,” the release said. 

Sheriff’s deputies are seeking information who may have video footage from the area or information about the crash. People can contact call the non-emergency number at 503-588-5032 and reference case #22-15139.
