Soul band, Movies in the Park take the outdoor stage this weekend

It will be a busy weekend at the Gerry Frank | Salem Rotary Amphitheater.

On Friday, the city of Salem will continue its summer free concert series with live music for all ages.

The 8 p.m. show will feature the Ferenjis, a self-described neo-soul band from Salem. The remaining concerts scheduled are Showtigers on Sept. 2 and Pachanga on Oct. 7.

A local band is performing on the first Friday of each month at the amphitheater, which opened last summer in Riverfront Park, as part of Salem’s First Friday Art Walk downtown. The art walk, which runs from 5-8 p.m., features pop-up vendors and art exhibits at many downtown businesses.

Movies in the Park will then have its third event of the summer Saturday with a showing of Mitchells v. The Machines around 8:30 p.m.

The series returned earlier this month for the first time since 2019 due to the pandemic.

Encanto is the final movie on the lineup, schedule for next Saturday, Aug. 13 around 8 p.m.

The amphitheater is at the south end of Riverfront Park, 200 Water St. N.E.
