Salem planners on Tuesday unveiled a near-final design for a skate park to be built at Geer Park starting in 2024.
The project is part of a series of improvements planned for the east Salem park, located at 241 Geer Dr. N.E., near the Oregon State Hospital.
The park is about half developed, parks planner Rob Romanek said during a virtual presentation Tuesday. Other improvements planned for the 44-acre park include a playground, splash pad, dog park, restrooms and a new multi-use sports field suitable for baseball, softball and soccer.
The skate park design would include nine major features, including a bowl, rail, flow area and moonscape, as well as a green space in the center. It was developed by Evergreen Skateparks following public comments on two earlier proposals in the spring.
