The event starts 10 a.m. July 13 at Glenn Creek, which runs through Orchard Heights carrying fish, beavers, plants, trees and other wildlife, according to the Polk Soil and Water Conservation District’s website.

Speakers from the city of Salem’s Public Works Department and the Glenn Gibson Watershed council will give presentations at the district-sponsored event.

“Learn about the restoration work happening in your watershed, which makes a positive impact on our environment,” the conservation district said.

Attendees from 11 a.m. until noon can learn about the park’s pollinator garden and take a plant walk to learn about native and invasive plants on its grounds, as well as how you can bring native plants into your own yard and remove invasive species.

The district said on its website that those looking to attend should arrive early to the park, located at 1165 Orchard Heights Rd NW, Salem, OR 97304. Check-in will be near the basketball court.

The event is open to all ages. The district “strongly encouraged” registration so attendees can take home a native seed packet for pollinators.
