A Salem man was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle on Northeast Commercial Street Thursday morning.
Brandon Musser of Dallas was driving southbound on Northeast Commercial Street near the intersection of Northeast Chemeketa Street around 6:50 a.m. when he struck Charles Bernbeck, Lt. Treven Upkes, spokesperson for the Salem Police Department, wrote in an email.
The department’s investigation found Musser had a green light and that Bernbeck was crossing the road south of a crosswalk – but not in the crosswalk – when he was struck.
Bernbeck suffered “significant lower body injuries” and was transported to Salem Hospital for treatment, Upkes said.
Musser was cited for failure to carry and present a license and driving while suspended.
