Expected slower traffic in northeast Salem for the Oregon State Fair starting Friday.
On Northeast Silverton Road the speed limit will be reduced to 20 mph near the fairgrounds. Turning will be restricted at certain intersections to keep traffic moving.
In nearby neighborhoods, there are no-parking signs to prevent overflow parking in front of people’s homes.
Northeast 17th Street will become a one-way street from Northeast Madison Street to Sunnyview Road Northeast, with northbound traffic only. The street is closed to through traffic from Sunnyview Road to Silverton Road, except for fair vendors.
Sunnyview Road is also closed to through traffic between 17th Street and Evergreen Avenue Northeast and is only allowing vehicles through to park south of the fairgrounds for the event.
The traffic changes are expected to end on Sept. 6 between 10 p.m. and midnight, said Trevor Smith, city of Salem spokesperson.
