Firefighters contained a two-alarm structure and brush fire that destroyed a barn on the outskirts of Salem Thursday morning.

Firefighters with Marion County Fire District #1 were called at 11:14 a.m. to a property in the 500 block of 63rd Avenue Northeast, Chief Kyle McMann said.

They found a barn and surrounding brush and grass on fire. McMann said firefighters were able to contain the blaze to one acre, but the barn was a total loss.

Nobody was injured in the fire, McMann said. The cause is unknown and under investigation.

The agency posted photos on Facebook showing a large plume of smoke over the site.

Marion County was assisted by firefighters from Keizer, Silverton, Aumsville and Turner.
