A Salem man was charged with first-degree murder Wednesday for the shooting death of a Salem teen in September.

Jayson Lynn Elkins, 21, was arrested Tuesday, six weeks after 18-year-old Andrew Ray Rosas was shot and killed in Hoover School Park on Sept. 22. Another teen was injured in the shooting.

Rosas was a McKay High School student.

Elkins was arraigned in Marion County Circuit Court Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree robbery, two counts of unlawful weapon use, first-degree assault and being a felon in possession of a weapon.

Update: Salem Reporter isn’t identifying the name of the second victim because of concerns about their safety.
