Local students aren’t in class this week, but a dozen elementary school cafeterias will be open and serving free lunch.
Salem-Keizer School District officials provide free meals to students over school breaks to make sure kids who rely on school-provided food don’t go hungry.
Seven in ten Salem-Keizer students are low-income and qualify for free lunch at school.
Anyone 18 or younger can get lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. No proof of income or registration is required.
Participating elementary schools:
Bush
Candalaria
Cummings
Englewood
Four Corners
Grant
Hayesville
Kennedy
Richmond
Washington
Wright
Yoshikai
