Sprague science teacher, beloved by students, killed by suspected intoxicated driver

A driver suspected of being intoxicated hit and killed a beloved teacher at Sprague High School who was biking in southeast Salem Thursday night.

Jeremy Wanak, 46, was biking along Southeast Delaney Road last night when a driver crashed into him around 7:19 p.m., according to a statement from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened near the 2000 block of Delaney Road, the statement said.
