A man was found dead of a gunshot wound in the early hours of 2024 in the parking lot of a northeast Salem nightclub.
The Salem Police Department responded around 3:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1 to a report of a person with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of La Leyenda Nightclub, 3260 Portland Rd. N.E., where they found the man dead.
Police described the shooting as a homicide but did not identify the 29-year-old man who was killed or say whether they had identified a suspect.
Department spokeswoman Angela Hedrick said Tuesday that police had made no arrests in the shooting.
“Our Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and are working all available leads in this very active investigation, so there is little else to share at this time,” Hedrick said in an email.
