Salem man arrested for Wallace Marine Park shooting after SWAT search

A police SWAT team searched a northeast Salem home Friday afternoon and arrested a 23-year-old man accused of killing one man and wounding another in a shooting at a homeless encampment at Wallace Marine Park.

Arlie C. Thompson of Salem was arrested and will be booked into the Polk County Jail on charges of second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping and unlawful use of a weapon, the Salem Police Department said in a statement
