YOUR GOVERNMENT: Marion County Commissioners vote on fair board appointments

Marion County Commissioners on Wednesday will consider new appointments to the county’s parks commission and fair board, and a purchase of cleaning supplies.

The commissioners meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the Senator Hearing Room at 555 Court St. N.E. Anyone can attend or sign up to give public comment in-person at the meeting. The meeting is streamed live on YouTube.

Board appointments

Commissioners will vote on appointing Tabitha Henricksen as a citizen-at-large to the Marion County Parks Commission, with a term ending Dec. 31, 2027.

They will also vote on appointing Dana Castano, Greg Martin and Brandi Crandall to the Marion County Fair Board. Castano’s term would end Dec. 31, 2024; Martin’s on Dec. 31, 2025 and Crandall’s on Dec. 31, 2026.

Purchase and lease

Commissioners will vote on a purchase order with Waxie Sanitary Supply to provide janitorial supplies, paper products and custodial equipment through June 30, 2024 for $150,000.

Commissioners will also vote on renewing a lease with McKay Farms for use of 42 acres adjacent to North Marion County Disposal Facility in Woodburn. The renewed lease would run through Dec. 31, 2028 and cost the county $65,520 for five years.
