Traffic accident takes out power for 2,000 in north Lancaster

About 2,000 homes and businesses in the north Lancaster area were without power for several hours following a traffic accident Tuesday evening.

Portland General Electric reported the outage around 7:30 p.m. and estimated power would be restored by 11 p.m. By 10:20 p.m., the outage was only affecting about 145 homes and businesses.

The collision was reported in the 2500 block of Brown Rd. N.E. Firefighters received a “wires down” call, said Brian Carrara, deputy administrative chief for Salem fire, which generally means a minor accident not involving multiple vehicles.

The utility listed the outage near the intersection of Northeast 45th Avenue and Northeast Cordon Road.

The outage affected 2,068 customers, the utility said on its outage map.
