Hayesville Drive Northeast will be closed for around two months between Lancaster Drive Northeast and Cordon Road Northeast starting May 9 as city contractors complete utility work in the area.

The closed area will remain accessible for residents and businesses, but the intersection of Hayesville Drive Northeast and Harland Drive Northeast will be fully closed to all drivers, the city of Salem announced in a statement Friday.

Drivers should use Kale Street Northeast as a detour to travel between Cordon Road Northeast and Lancaster Drive Northeast. The city said Northgate neighborhood residents should be aware of crews working in the area and follow all directions during construction.

“The road closure will allow contractors to complete work on a new sanitary sewer pump station and other utility upgrades in the area,” according to the statement.
