Help keep Salem’s free fridges stocked with silent auction donations

Free Fridge Salem is seeking donations for a February silent auction to help keep its network of neighborhood fridges and pantries stocked with food and supplies.

The group supplies more than a dozen dry food pantries and outdoor refrigerators located across Salem where anyone can drop off non-expired food, grab a meal or get needed groceries or snacks. Organizers have also put on a twice-weekly “soup squad” during the winter to feed people at Marion Square and Wallace Marine parks.

Auction items can include homemade goods, services, experiences, donations from local businesses or other items, according to a Facebook post.

Donors can send a photo of their item and a description to [email protected]. If the donation is a service or experience, auction organizers will create a graphic.

The auction begins Feb. 14.

More information is on the Free Fridge Salem Facebook and Instagram pages.
