Horses whinnied, goats bleated and geese gaggled during the opening of the Oregon State Fair Friday. Kids participating in the 4-H program showed off their livestock to compete for prizes.

After last year’s break due to Covid, the Oregon State Fair is back from Aug. 27 through Sept. 6. There are carnival rides, a petting zoo and concerts.
